wtf is so bad about korn? i suggest you listen to their 1st 2 albums. actually, for close minded people i suppose even listening to 2 of the greatest, most influential albums ever created wouldnt even help. i understand korn isnt everyones thing, but im not a fan of elvis or the beatles but i still respect the sht outta them. and btw veruca salt rules. never even knew they had a vid for this song

Huh…you know I looked up the lyrics and what they’re sing is “Levelor”, so i went and looked up what that meant. Turns out Levelor is a window blinds company. Just thought that was cool was all, since they are like “Levelor, which of us is blind..” yeah…

  7. relshdan Says:

    the first half or …
the first half or so of the 90’s were amazing (90-97)…..the last few years killed popular/mainstream music, and it’s never recovered.

  8. relshdan Says:

    they’re a poor …
    they’re a poor man’s Breeders….but i love this song.

  9. justaguyfriend Says:

    Did they do music …
Did they do music videos then too? Because I think that’s what UMG seem to be into putting up on YouTube.

i wish that UMG would add some of Sonic Youth’s older albums; now that’s some good music!

God I miss the 90’s. Absolutely one of the best decades for music ever.

I wish UMG would add VS’s video for “Shutterbug” into their database here. I think it’s their best video.

Yeah. Willy Wonka said, “Huh. I always thought a veruca was a kind of wart that you found at the bottom of your foot”

    Isn’t Veruca Salt …
Isn’t Veruca Salt the name of that girl in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

  17. Lisboa1906 Says:

    No matter the label …
No matter the label grunge rock is a diferent sound you recognized easily and it is not pure metal (Nirvana were more close to punk, Soundgarden to metal). It’s true about Headbanger’s Ball… as it is about Alternative Nation, a much more appropriate stage for Veruca Salt

  18. dvronn1 Says:

    It sounds like …
It sounds like you’re fairly limited in your listening tastes, nearly all the bands you mention are pretty well linked. Belly, Breeders, Throwing Muses, Pixies. No connections there, oh wait……And Dinosaur Jr. didn’t have ANY metal influences, except that J. played in a metal band on the side.

  19. dvronn1 Says:

    Grunge was an …
Grunge was an industry marketing term. There was never any such thing as “pure alternative music” Most of the bands you mentioned were lumped into other marketing terms (shoegazer, no wave, noise), although the most accurate would be post-punk.

As for grunge bands, most of them were hard rock with just as many metal influences as punk influences. (usually more, there is a reason these bands got plenty of airplay on Headbanger’s Ball back in the 90s you grew up in.)

  20. dvronn1 Says:

    So the fact that …
So the fact that she was putting out music well before Veruca Salt ever even debuted would be what? Is Courtney from the future. I mean aping other people’s style before they have ever come out with it is no mean feat.

    lol @ you
    lol @ you

  22. Lisboa1906 Says:

    Some of them …
Some of them produced by 4AD, thin royal label of alternative music. Others by Geffen Records.
Unfortunately most of these bands didn’t last.
What came later was teen rock/metal with few quality: limp bizcuit, korn and others…

  23. Lisboa1906 Says:

    Please! I grew up …
Please! I grew up in the 90’s. What you call metal had nothing to do with metal. There was the grunge rock and the punk rock leaded by the Seattle scene and followers (Nirvana, Mudhoney, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots) and you had the pure alternative music, like the Pixies, the Breeders, Veruca Salt, Belly, Throwing Muses, Dinassaur Jr., Sonic Youth…

  24. Hayakanashi Says:

    Girls don’t look or …
Girls don’t look or sound like this anymore…its a shame, really disappointing.

  25. WorldWar3 Says:

    I think that yes.. …
I think that yes..the quality of popular music went to , however there are still great bands out there, it’s just not in the mainstream like it used to be.
