Just enjoy the music. It is unfortunate that we continue to point out our differences and ignore the things that we have in common. we are all here listening and watching Coltrane. just be present and live the race outside of venue.

    because many white …
because many white people at the time were still racist, therefore creating tension between the races making it difficult for whites to acceptably play it. Also, I am sure that jazz was ociated as the ‘black mans’ music for a very long time..

    Its simple History. …
Its simple History. It all started in New Orleans. after the war, many military musicians would just leave there horns on the dock they would land on, and black people (because New Orleans is predominantly black) just went out n picked em up. Here is where your Dixie land Jazz started, and then the rest happened. However, its not that most famous Jazz musicians are black, its just that there were different styles. Big Band Tends to be White people, and Bebop and all that, Black.

hmmm interesting question! i wonder the same thing… but i thimk this.. i can ume that is because black artists had much more to express.. You know, the issue of discrimination and racism, then they were in need to draw their own repression! and what better way to play jazz music.. which does not fit in my head is why not inherited this music, now it is pure hip-hop trash

You can’t compare Kenny G to this. I hate the way so many people have hated on Kenny G just because he dosen’t play this style of music on his sax. I will agree kenny doesn’t jazz though; he should of called it smooth pop or insturmental pop to begin with, then he might of avioded all this conserversy. Oh well he’s laughing to the banks
